2-Chloronicotinonitrile, with CAS registry number 6602-54-6, is an organic compound which belongs to the product categories of Pyridine; Pyridines, Pyrimidines, Purines and Pteredines; Halides; Pyridines; Heterocyclic Compounds; Chloropyridines; Halopyridines. 2-Chloronicotinonitrile is the product of 1-oxy-nicotinamide. It is white to light yellow crystal powder. Its IUPAC name is called 2-chloropyridine-3-carbonitrile. It should be closed tight and stored in cool and draughty place.

2-Chloronicotinonitrile can be used to produce 1-(3-Cyano-2-pyridyl)piperazine by heating. This reaction will need solvent butan-1-ol with reaction time of 18 hours.
