Sodium hydroxide is used to increase the alkalinity of a mixture, or to neutralize acids. It can be used as an additive in drilling mud to increase alkalinity in bentonite mud systems increases the mud viscosity. It is also used in making paper. Additionally, it can be used to digest tissues. And it is used to dissolve amphoteric metals and compounds. This product is an esterification and transesterification reagent that can be used in soap making and as a catalyst in the manufacture of biodiesel. Furthermore, it is often used as an industrial cleaning agent. It can also used in washing or chemical peeling of fruits and vegetables, chocolate and cocoa processing, caramel coloring production, poultry scalding, soft drink processing, and thickening ice cream. And it can be used as a relaxer to straighten hair. It has been used as the most common paint stripper on wooden objects traditionally.

When you are using this Sodium hydroxide, please be cautious about it as the following: it may cause severe burns. It is also irritating to eyes and skin. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. And you should wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and eye/face protection to avoid contact with skin and eyes. Moreover, in case of accident or if you feel unwell, seek medical advice immediately (show label where possible).
