BHT, known as butylated hydroxy toluene, is often used as food addictive to extend service life of a variety of food, like seafood and baked food. However, it proves that BHT (128-37-0) is likely to cause cancers and other diseases, such as liver hypertrophy, low birth rate and chromosome changes, etc. According to a research, a pregnant mice dine on something mixed with BHT gave birth to sleepless baby mouse, which shows it is deformative to creatures.
The amount of BHT (128-37-0) is strictly restricted to be added into food in America, Japan and some European countries as there is a threat to public health. In fact, it can be beneficial in food industry as long as it is made into use properly.
