Erlotinib is a cancer chemotherapy medication. Erlotinib interferes with the growth of cancer cells and slows their growth and spread in the body. It is used in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer. And may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.
Erlotinib-HCl is a synthetic quinazolinamine that is a selective inhibitor of the epidermal growth factor receptor-tyrosine kinase. Stimulation of the epidermal growth factor receptor occurs by various ligands including transforming growth factor-alpha, amphiregulin, epiregulin, heparin-binding epidermal-like growth factor, and β-cellulin. In addition, epidermal growth factor receptor may also be activated by other receptors such as G-protein coupled proteins. Up-regulation or overexpression of epidermal growth factor receptor in cancer cells has been associated with increased cell proliferation (alters cell cycle regulation), cell survival (blocks apoptosis), increased motility and invasive capacity (associated with metastases), and promotion of angiogenesis.

Because Erlotinib-HCl may cause side effects ,Pls ask your doctor before you use it. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away: diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and so on .
